Week 12 Reading Notes: Nursery Rhymes - Reading B

The Nursery Rhyme Book by Andrew Lang

  • Lots of repetition and riddles aren't always clearly stated as riddles
  • A lot of phrases are repeated with little bits of description added after each repetition

  • There is repetition like the other stories, but this is a story that adds on a sentence or two each time and repeats the previous
  • It begins with the house Jack built, then adds various animals to the story, such as a rat, then a cat, then a dog
  • The story ends with the farmer, Jack, sowing his corn while married to a maiden, and they are awoken by a rooster
